Cuentos y Café is a local multicultural, Latina woman-owned, independent book space that operates as a pop up and online bookstore. We offer carefully curated new and used books that highlight BIPOC and BIPOC LGBTQIA+ authors, celebrating the richness of diverse cultures and experiences through our stories.
As a BIPOC centered bookstore, Cuentos y Café is committed to creating a safe and welcoming space where readers can find an assortment of books across genres that include small independent presses, classics, multilingual books, and works by emerging authors.
At Cuentos y Café, we believe that our stories deserve more than one table, one month out of the year.
The Dream
Cuentos y Café BIPOC Bookstore was born out of the deep desire to have a space where BIPOC stories could be at the center of the conversation. Frustrated at having to dig around to find stories that celebrated diverse experiences and not seeing enough of herself reflected on the shelves of mainstream bookstores, Tamara, a Latina decided to turn her dream of owning a bookstore into a reality. She worked to create a platform where stories written by amazing and talented BIPOC storytellers can shine, for more than just one month out of the year. While the ultimate goal is to have a brick and mortar location with a coffee shop and a community space, for now, she is excited to offer Cuentos y Café as a popup and online bookstore.
